What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We may obtain personal data about you from our website or from mobile apps or from physical events. We collect your details because we need to verify who you are in order to provide you with the information, services and physical goods we may provide you. You may ‘register with us as a Provisional Member’; and for this we only need your name, email and mobile number. As a full member we also need your address because we may have to post products to you.

Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with our site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third-party embeds.

You must consent to this information being collected and used by us to better support our communication together. We do not share or sell or exchange any of your data with anyone or allow any 3rd party access. Our cookie policies are shown below and confirm this:

By default our WordPress website does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However, some of our plugins may collect personal data. We have provided this relevant information below.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Your contact information and additional information:

Whilst you are browsing this website we do not use any hidden cookies to obtain any personal details about you.

Any forms or surveys or registration requirements are clear in what they are asking for and the information is retained by us on our secure cloud server for a period of 7 days, thereafter it is copied to a secure hardrive and not on a computer before being removed. We do not share or transfer or sell this information to anyone else – We hope this reassures you.

We also comply with the EU directive and the UK law enforcement for website cookies.

Compliance with the cookie law comes down to three basic steps:

Work out what cookies your site sets, and what they are used for:

This website uses the following resources, which all have their own cookies:

WordPress – these cookies are only used if you are have to complete any forms or enter a password restricted section of the site – 99% of our site is free from such cookies. Any of these cookies that are used are inserted by the third party plugin providers and not by us.

Google Analytics – these cookies are used to help us gain information about our customers. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

Facebook, Twitter, Google+, You Tube or other social media “like” buttons or plugins or links – these are cookies that are run by the social media people and are not used by us. The cookies used by these 3rd parties, whose software may be added to the site, can also impact your experience of other websites you may visit after leaving ours.

These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites.

They do not store any personally identifiable information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

If you continue to use this site without taking action to prevent the storage of this information, you are effectively agreeing to this use.

If you want to learn more about the general uses of cookies, including how to stop them being stored by your computer, please visit Cookiepedia – all about cookies.

A paypal shopping basket / cart – If we use any online purchase buttons / shopping cart (such as Paypal – then the cookies used are those needed by Paypal for any transaction – the information is not used by us and is totally encrypted by Paypal and by us again with our SSL certificate.

So basically, you have nothing to be concerned about with this website.

What are Cookies Anyway?

Cookies are a kind of short term memory for the web.  They are stored in your browser and enable a site to ‘remember’ little bits of information between pages or visits.

They are widely used to make the web experience more personal, which is generally seen as a positive thing. However some cookies collect data across many websites, creating ‘behavioural profiles’ of people. These profiles can then be used to decide what content or adverts to show you. This use of cookies for targeting in particular is what the law was designed to highlight. By requiring websites to inform and obtain consent from visitors it aims to give web users more control over their online privacy.

Who we share your data with

Any and all third-party providers with whom we share site data, including partners, cloud-based services, payment processors, are provided below with a link to their own privacy policies.

By default WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

By default, WordPress does not include a contact form. Any contact form plugin we use to capture personal data is used for customer service purposes; we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes. We will clarify what support and contact we will provide to you as a member before you join.

How long we retain your data & your access rights

GDPR does not specify retention periods for personal data. Instead, it states that personal data may only be kept in a form that permits identification of the individual for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was processed.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Where we send your data

We safeguard your data to European data protection standards. This includes your web hosting, cloud storage, and other third-party services.

European data protection law requires data about European residents which is transferred outside the European Union to be safeguarded to the same standards as if the data was in Europe. This is covered in the 3rd part links.

How we protect your data

All our website data is SSL protected. We provide 99.9% compatibility across users of current browsers. 2048-bit SSL certificates issued from our Certificate Authorities are trusted by over 99.9% of all current browsers, including Microsoft Edge (all versions), Internet Explorer 5.01 (and above), Firefox 1.0 (and above), Google Chrome (all versions), Apple Safari 1.2 (and above), Opera 6.1 (and above) and many others.

What data breach procedures we have in place

Microsoft Defender and Windows Firewall are used to protect our computer from virus threats.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Our website(s) do not provide a service which includes automated decision making – for example, allowing customers to apply for credit, or aggregating their data into an advertising profile.

Thank you for reading or listening to this,

Marcus, Sharon, and Morgan Pearson.
